Urgent Needs

Update July 29th

I discharged from residential on July 22nd, but I am still in an intensive, high level of care,

virtual Partial Hospitalization, which requires me to be on-screen and engaged with treatment activities for

6 hours a day, 7 days a week. I need to prioritize my health and well being at this time and it's frustrating doing

this from home because it feels like people just hear "I'm home" and then think I can go back to regular life. I am

also under a physical movement restriction, and we all know how much of that is necessary during a move.

I was able to withdraw from my summer class, so I have a reprieve from school on top of everything else. I only

received $1100 in financial aid for this quarter though. (Still not quite sure if I'll have to pay that back eventually,

but for now it's mine.)

I have not yet signed the lease for the new place but it should be happening any day now. This will be an enormous

downsize for us, from a single family home approx 2600sqft w/garage to a tiny apartment. I will need to rent a

storage unit. I found one that is about 15 min from our new place, 10x10 for $99/mo or a 10x20 for $139/mo. There

is a storage location that is opening two minutes away from our apartment in August which would be ideal, depending

on when in Aug they open! That would be $110/mo for 10x13 with 50% off first two months.

I am worried about how logistically and financially this move will go. I was unable to pay my car insurance so I'm

pretty sure I can't rent a U-haul myself. We will need to make trips to the dump which will need a truck and also

I believe the discounted rate is still $20/load. Also our new apartment is approximately an hour away, so going

often with smaller loads will add up with gas money.

Also, my August rent is due! I don't have it. I've worked so hard to be able to pay my rent each month since

we've lived here. It's been nothing short of miraculous some months. I have no idea how we've been able to

spend this much on rent each month for the past 2 1/2 years. The new place will relieve a ton of financial stress,

but moving is expensive. I may try to talk with my landlord about giving me an eviction notice so I can get some

rental assistance from some place like The Salvation Army, which requires you have one before they will help you.

I just can't have an actual eviction on my record!!

I need financial support and physical support for this move.

Also, on top of all of that, my 18yo will be moving to college in September and I have no money to help get their

dorm room set up, also a computer.

Needs I'd like to highlight that are non-financial:

-Boxes & paper

-Packing tape

-Taking loads of donations to Value Village in Woodinville (you can go elsewhere, that's just the closest)

-Taking loads to dump (closest is in Lynnwood about 15-20 min away)

-Help with disassembling items

-Help changing smoke detector batteries in high ceiling (need ladder)

-Putting original doorknobs back on four or five doors

-Yardwork (need weedwhacker)

I also need some kind of med/large securely locking box or cabinet of some kind in which to safely store

medicines at our new apartment, as the solution we have here won't work in the new place.

If you can help in any way, I'd be grateful, even if that just means sharing this post. I cannot emphasize enough

how dire things are and my family and I are extremely stressed.

------------------------------------------

A lot has happened since March. I’ve been so busy it’s been hard to find time to update. I also hate asking for help so I tend to stall also.

Here are some things that have changed:

-My 18yo graduated!

-I entered residential treatment on May 12

-My 20yo went from inpatient to residential treatment on July 7th

-I have been doing paperwork trying to get into an income based apartment that has a voucher attached that will help with rent. It’s been an ongoing process since early May and I’m hoping it gets wrapped up in the next week or two, but it’s causing a lot of stress not having things solidified yet.

My financial aid & student loan application got messed up for summer quarter so I tried to fix it but I’m not sure how much longer before it actually hits my account, or how much less it will be since I’m only taking one class this quarter. Besides the $2295 I have earmarked for rent, and maybe a little bit of loose cash, we are completely out of money. We have all had such a hard time the past few months (really longer than that) and my kids are exhausted and have had a lot of stress. I would love for my 18yo to not be so burdened by this during their last summer before college.

Hellllpppp!

UPDATE 7/15 Thanks to a couple of generous people I was able to scrape together enough to pay the rent!!

  • Help mowing or weed-whacking small front yard area

Financial:

  • July rent $ (I have $2295, need $955 more) +$325 late fees +$15/day past day 5 (I have never been late with the rent before in the past 2 ½ years I’ve lived here so the late fee may be able to be forgiven)

  • Textbook I need for this quarter: $43.99  (not doing this class anymore)

  • Help with moving costs, TBD but possibly including deposit, U-Haul rental fees, dump fees, cleaning supplies, misc

  2. Hi Ray! Thank you, are they laptops? I’d love to snag one for my college bound kiddo!

    1. Yes. I have an older ASUS laptop that's running the Google OS that might work for him. If he's just using it for email and writing then it'd be good. I also have another older Lenovo which is running Windows so if he's more into Windows that might work also. I also have an older desktop running Windows 10 with a monitor, keyboard, mouse and quite a bit of disk space so that might be good also. Check with him and I can send more details if he'd like some more information on them.

    2. I have an ASUS VIvobook also that I'll refresh and have ready.

    3. I have the ASUS Vivobook refreshed and ready to go. Once you turn it on I believe it'll boot into the setup screens to accept your Microsoft account and then you can go. I'm near downtown Bothell just up the hill from City Hall. You can message me in Messager as rayhayes@rhbe.net or here.
